| Daniel
I've started on the baseboard and am buying some secondhand track to make a start!
J'ai commencé sur la plinthe et achète quelque piste d'occasion pour faire un début !
My idea is to make a Cognac Distillery / Brewery, how does that sound?
Mon idée est de faire une Distillerie de Cognac/la Brasserie, comment semble-cela ?

| Any pictures Brian? I was wondering what your theme might be. I hope it will be a fully working model. I've made a start too but I'll open a separate thread. |

Nothing to show this end, as just a flat sheet of plywood! Rather daunted by Carl's baseboard
However these are a couple of pics for my "mood board" for the project ...

| Some interesting projects getting started here. Looking forward to see your brewery theme layout build Brain. Are you also going to make some cars with those wooden barrels on it, like on the picture? _________________ Paul |

Well it was going to be 1450 mm as that's the longest I can get in my trailer. However the bigger problem is width, I'm restricted to 850mm and MOMI specify 900mm, as the hole fixings to connect modules are at 850 I'm a bit snookered - any ideas? For the time being work is on hold!_________________ Brian also blogging at www.frenchgardenrailways.com |

| Silly me - cracked it - I'll hinge the section behind the backscene it only has the return rail on it! _________________ Brian also blogging at www.frenchgardenrailways.com |

| I've split this topic out from Daniel's general MOMI "call to arms" so I can update progress on the "Cognac" module seperately. I've been doing a bit more thinking and planning... And after a couple of false starts on the baseboard and now following Carl and Daniels example have an outer frame and rough layout for the front section of the module... _________________ Brian also blogging at www.frenchgardenrailways.com |

I hope so; somehow shipping cognac in a steel rail tanker seems sacreligious.
BTW, I can't wait to see the turntable. Armstrong variety, I suppose. _________________ Bill Wray

I'm going to cheat and use LGB one's as per the one I've branded "HINE" in the pic above! Anyway wouldn't want the precious stuff to evaporate even more than the "Angels Share"
I reckon free samples to anyone making it from across "the pond" to Chatellerault next November!_________________ Brian also blogging at www.frenchgardenrailways.com |

That'll work. Maybe include one of those Zillertal bar cars with the vat on it as well.

Now that, my friend, is a tempting offer. _________________ Bill Wray

| Chatellerault is in September.... But come for that, stay for St Aubin, there's a bash in Orleans and then Rail Expo at the end of November. There are some nice barrel wagons from Ozark miniatures: Available from: Bertram Heyn at 98 and 75 euros. Nice man, speaks good English. Miniature barrels (tonneau, fut, barrel) that I like the look of so far I found these places: http://www.monsieurmaquettes.com/accastillage/3127-tonneau-25-x-30-mm-noyer-mantua-model-mm32334.html http://www.larrygscale.com/servlet/the-150/1-fdsh-24-SCALE-G-SCALE/Detail http://thegamesplace.co.uk/acatalog/2HScen19_Barrel_Set_-_4_barrels_.html |

| Thanks for the links Carl. I think the Barrel wagons are a bit rich for my budget, I'm waiting for two more of the LGB s/h from Dutch Evil Bay at 15euro a pop. Hopefully once weathered and with couplings off, they'll look the part?
Good idea to get Bill over for a month, there's always accomodation here if needed! _________________ Brian also blogging at www.frenchgardenrailways.com |

| Brain, I think those LGB ones will work if weathered and that ugly plastic tube/hose is removed. Perhaps a bit of variety in barrels will ad some realism also (slight color change or just not the same barrels). You buy from Dutch Ebay or Marktplaats.nl? I think there are not much on Ebay.nl and on Marktplaats they are often more expensive. Better look for it on Ebay.de. But if you want I can help if Dutch sellers only want to ship it in the low countries itself. Bill, you did want to try to visit the Marseille plant if I remember correctly? That would be good to combine with MOMI layout tour _________________ Paul |

Very kind offer Paul, thanks could well take you up on that. Although we have a both Belgian and Dutch neighbours here also!
I don't buy much from Ebay.nl but the occasional bargain pops up!
Like you I find Ebay.de best, but cant bid on auctions that only want to ship to Germany. Now if we had a similar offer from a German member??

| As the turntable is the central and most pivotal (forgive the pun) feature of the module, I've spent today fabricating it from a bit of old ply and lengths of rail... The "Dutch" barrel wagons arrived so I've labelled them up - they came with some rather shiny metal wheel sets which I can swap for some well weathered plastic ones from the garden rolling stock. Started prefabricating a section of loading dock wall from "Aldi" bricks... Also thinking how to replicate a still... _________________ Brian also blogging at www.frenchgardenrailways.com |
